Pixela Labs created a complete virtual drilling rig environment optimized for real-time use, ICVFX production, and cinematic rendering — including full rig infrastructure, realistic terrain, and dynamic lighting.

This high-detail virtual scene showcases a full-scale drilling rig setup with all core and auxiliary components placed in a realistic forest environment. Built with a focus on accuracy, flexibility, and real-time rendering, the environment is fully optimized for ICVFX, Unreal Engine pipelines, and virtual production use cases from oil & gas presentations to film, XR stages, and simulation.

Background

The goal was to design a complete digital replica of a drilling site, with every essential piece of equipment represented — from the derrick and top drive to mud systems, control cabins, and power infrastructure.
Pixela Labs built the entire environment from scratch, using PBR materials, distance-based tiling, and a dynamic lighting system supporting day/night variations — all designed to be performance-friendly while retaining visual realism across varying distances and camera setups.
