Fracking VR

Fracking VR

Pixela Labs developed a VR training simulation for HTC Vive Pro, visualizing the hydraulic fracturing process in oil & gas through a photorealistic, explorable digital twin.

Fracking VR is an immersive educational application designed to train operators and engineers in the fundamentals of hydraulic fracturing. Built for HTC Vive Pro, the simulation provides a detailed walk-through of the fracking process using real-world oil and gas equipment, recreated with high fidelity. Users can explore the environment, follow the operation step by step, and take part in a final knowledge assessment all within a guided virtual space.

Background

The simulation was built around the concept of a two-level environment:

- Above-ground: surface equipment and operational setup
- Underground: animated subsurface processes and pressure dynamics

Pixela Labs created a photorealistic digital twin of the equipment, optimized for VR. Special attention was paid to accuracy, visual clarity, and performance on the HTC Vive Pro system, ensuring the simulation could be used as both a training tool and a presentation asset.
